I'm fundraising for Guide Dogs Queensland
In June 2024, Murray and Nancy Wells reached out to Guide Dogs Queensland after coming into some unexpected funds they wished to donate. Inspired by the organisation’s work, they proudly became puppy sponsors to three adorable pups, Casino, Whisky, and Nancy. Whisky was lovingly named in memory of their cherished dog who had recently passed away.
Their connection with Guide Dogs Queensland deepened over time, and Murray and Nancy soon began volunteering, offering their time and talents across a range of roles. Murray, who started woodworking at just nine years old, has spent decades crafting
beautiful, functional pieces. His creations include everything from children’s toys, like train sets, tractors, and horse stables, to chopping boards and decorative items. All of Murray’s work is made from untreated timber and finished with vegetable oil, ensuring
each piece is safe for both children and food use. Despite being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, Murray continues to pursue his
passion for woodworking. Rather than letting the condition slow him down, he channels his energy into crafting unique items to help raise funds for Guide Dogs Queensland.
To date, Murray and Nancy have generously donated over $30,000 worth of handcrafted items to support the organisation. We invite you to take your time exploring the pieces on display. Every purchase helps Guide Dogs Queensland continue its vital work supporting service delivery, funding our Leisure and Lifestyle Program, helping run Kids Camps, supporting our puppy breeding and raising initiatives, and ensuring the ongoing care and training of our incredible Guide Dogs.
