Interact District 9620 created the Melaki Movement in 2026

The Melaki Movement is an Interact D9620 community project funding guide dogs—better suited to emotional‑support roles—as they retrain to become PTSD support partners, who bring strength and stability to trauma survivors.
These dogs are intuitive, gentle, people-focused, and eager to serve. They simply shine in a different kind of work.
The movement begins by sponsoring:
- A dedicated PTSD support dog for trauma survivors
Impact: Veterans With PTSD
For veterans returning to civilian life, a PTSD Support Dog can be the difference between isolation and reintegration. These dogs interrupt panic, provide night‑time reassurance, and restore a sense of safety in public spaces. With a trained support dog beside them, veterans rebuild confidence, reconnect with community, and regain the stability needed to move forward after service.
