I'm fundraising for Guide Dogs Queensland
I was coward-punched by a drugged-up male neighbour on the 30th of March, 2021. I could have died from the injuries without the urgent attention of first responders. My face was 'obliterated' and I now have facial nerve damage, three titanium plates holding my skull together, and a blown right pupil. It cannot be fixed. When I worked for Guide Dogs Queensland in the 1990's, raising funds for people who needed the services to be active with the help of these beautiful dogs, little did I realise the impact it had on me years later. Dogs heal...more than I ever could have imagined. Please, I beg of you, give just a little, because it means a lot. My journey has just started and watch this space as I apply for a companion Guide Dog. His name will be Doofus and he will be black. With 27 Queenslanders currently on the wait list, hoping to meet their guide dog soon and many more hundreds of Queenslanders accessing support and services offered by Guide Dogs Queensland.
It is only with the support of the community that Guide Dogs can continue to give Queenslanders with vision loss the opportunity for freedom and independence. That is why I have chosen to put my PAW UP and fundraise for Guide Dogs.
Your donations will give more Queenslander’s the opportunity to meet their guide dog sooner and shorten the ever growing waitlist. It will also go towards providing vital support and services across the community to those impacted by vision loss.
Every dollar counts towards helping me reach my goal so any SUPPAWT you can offer will be PAWSOME! Thank you for any contributions you can make to my fundraising journey together we can create a change.
