Evander Leeman

Youth Ambassador

I'm a Guide Dog Youth Ambassador

I have taken up the challenge to become a Guide Dogs Youth Ambassador!!

With the support of the community I am striving to become a Youth Ambassador Champion raising much needed funds for Guide Dogs.  Your support will assist in providing vital services, including incredible Guide Dogs to Queenslanders facing low vision or blindness.

The Youth Ambassador program is aiming to raise enough funds to support the Guide Dog NurseryThis is a Guide Dog pup’s very first home. It is where the pups start their imPAWtant journey to becoming a life-changing companion, providing freedom and independence to people living with vision loss.

It is only with the support of the community that Guide Dogs can continue to give Queenslanders with low vision or blindness the opportunity for freedom and independence. That is why I have chosen to put my PAW UP and be a Youth Ambassador!

Every dollar $ counts towards helping me reach my goal so any SUPPAWT you can offer will help! Thank you for any contributions you can make to my fundraising journey together we can create an impact for Guide Dogs.

Guide Dogs at Suncorp Stadium!

Dolphins 🐬 v Warriors 🏉 Van had a fun day out. Seeing the guide dogs was his favourite thing, followed by the crowd yelling during the game. He usually doesn’t like too much noise but he really got into it!! Loved the fire 🔥 whenever a try was scored too.

About Van (& why he chose to fundraise for Guide Dogs)

Wednesday 21st May
Anyone who knows Evander, knows he loves dogs. He is intuitive, gentle, and totally relaxed with every dog he meets. He’s also autistic and while he doesn’t always read human social cues very well, he *gets* dogs. He loves dogs.

Evander is in year 2 and is a Bald Hills local. We drive past the Guide Dogs HQ almost daily. We saw a call-out for Youth Ambassadors on a billboard one day and Van was curious!

Unfortunately we don’t have the room or resources for our own dog. When we heard the prize for fundraising $1000 as a youth ambassador for Guide Dogs would be a puppy play date, Van was all in!

As his mum, I love seeing Van passionate about something. He wants to raise this money to train more guide dog puppies, to help people with low vision to live full and independent lives. He wants to teach other kids and community members how Guide Dogs Queensland, along with their staff and volunteers, work together with these beautiful animals to make a pawsitive difference. Ask him about Guide Dogs if you see him. He’d love to chat!
